Natural Stone Office Bar Sink

I was contacted by a client who had the idea of building his office furniture out of natural stone. He wondered how practical his idea was. We had a couple meetings made some sketches and determined this could be done. In designing large commissions we allow time for change. Most projects tend to evolve. This is due largely to the fact that most people are unaware of what can be done with stone.

With our sketch and tape measures we headed off to the stone yard to pick our stone. Picking stone can also take time; especially if there is a lot to choose from. With everyone happy I had the stone delivered to my shop. This office will be a stone desk, plotter table, reception and credenza, bathroom counter and sink all in natural stone.

Now that the stone has arrived I can begin to rough in the various pieces. The legs were carved and shaped on the inside. This was to add shape to them and to remove some of the extra weight. This was also done to the two stacking supports that will hold the desk tops in place. Next the carved areas on the legs and supports go through a process to age them back; removing any signs of tooling making the stone look natural again.
